Donald Trump's Wall: Will it Really Happen? Does it Matter?

Sorry, Immigration Patriots, but I don't care if it happens.  To be honest, I don't think it will; but that's a total guess with no evidence or logic behind it -- just a gut feeling.

Even if, by some miracle, it actually happens, I also don't care if we pay for it or Mexico does.  But that's beside the point.

What matters is this: do we need a wall along the entire border to enforce our laws?

A beefed up border patrol with better tech and fewer "rules of engagement"-type restrictions could do the same for less money.  Combine that with cutting the illegals off from welfare, enforcing e-Verify, and quickly deporting the violent criminals and I'm not sure we need the wall.

I'm glad the wall talk riles up the crowds on the Left and Right and I'm glad it helps The Donald move towards the White House, but if he gets elected and it doesn't happen, I'll probably just shrug.

Enforcement of our borders will always require an Executive Branch which gives a shit.  Even if there's a wall built, the next time we elect a corporate-owned shill, the hordes will be coming across the southern border again.  The changes I mentioned above are more important than some wall.

If it were me, I'd simply have automated drones patrolling and shooting invaders.  I make it well-publicized that intruders will get shot.  Then, it's not my fault when it someone calls my bluff.  We're at war and a porous border is a security risk.

Of course, American sensibilities wouldn't allow for that...
