How do you think this video was created? I like to picture Keith sitting at his computer, lips pursed together, hitting each key with the vigor of a 19th Century typist, muttering "yeah" under his breath, and then finally printing out this little rant and triumphantly saying, "Perfect! This will make some noise!" The image makes me giggle.
In reality, though, this went through multiple drafts and wasn't even perused by Keith until he began his undoubtedly many rehearsals prior to filming. Nevertheless, I prefer my first idea. The delusion of his own importance is just so funny to me. How many places has he been fired from? Current TV, MSNBC, ESPN (twice), NBC... Considering the pathetic state of journalism today, getting fired so many times is an impressive feat.
This brings me to the titular question: How self-aware is Keith Olbermann? He has to know, right? Know that no one cares what he thinks or says? That his self-righteous tantrums serve only to annoy, amuse, or fire-up the other side? How many times can a man be tossed out on his ass before admitting the possibility that he himself is an ass?
However, if Keith knows all this, then I believe he also knows every point in this video is bullshit, that the Democrats are deeply worried that the polls they quote with Hillary in the lead are misleading, that Trump's support is far more granular and larger than they've previously realized, and that -- as Trump keeps mentioning at his rallies and I've been saying for months -- the Democrat Party's base is not going to show up to the polls. In this interpretation, Keith is just spouting as much propaganda as he possibly can trying to get Democrat voters to get out of their coffee shops, welfare lines, and buses arriving from neighboring states in order to vote Hillary.
This kind of rings hollow though doesn't it? If Keith was such team player, I doubt he would have been shit-canned so many times. More likely, I think, is that Keith is every bit as pompous, emotional, and a bore as he seems. Even though he says things that his corporate bosses probably agree with, he's far too much of a blowhard to work with. No doubt he considers his firings as evidence that he's some kind of maverick, inspiring minds with impassioned thoughts that may make publicity-conscious corporations shirk but ultimately change the world.
Yeah, that definitely sounds more correct to me and every single one of his videos echo the same refrain. I happened to choose this video because the title was unintentionally funny.
Note: You can stop reading here. I'm going to quickly counter the points in his video but doing so is so trivial I shouldn't waste any time on it. If that sounds interesting (it isn't), read on.
Hard evidence shows the DNC and Hillary Campaign paid to incite violence at Trump rallies, populism is by definition democratic, one person at one rally is hardly a trend, the vast majority of documented voter fraud benefits the Democrat Party and leaked emails and videos show the DNC planning to commit voter fraud in this election, high-ranking Democrats such as Barrack Obama (ever heard of him?) have also called the system "rigged," implying millions of Americans are all card-carrying members of a hate filled mob is silly, and using high-minded language does not mask moronic content.
(Sorry, I got so bored writing that last paragraph I can't bring myself to read it again to look for typos. Corrections are left to the reader as an exercise.)
The content of Keith's rant can more easily be summarized with the included tweet from Tony Schwartz, the use of which being so ironic I was inspired to write this post. "Most negative things [Trump] says about others are actually describing him." Uh, Keith, literally everything in your video describes Hillary and the DNC more accurately than Trump. But I don't need to tell anyone else that. Everyone already seems to know even if only subconsciously. How do I know this? Well, mostly because Keith can't seem to keep a job.
