by being not racist, it turns out you are a racist

As if white people didn't have enough to feel bad about, we now need the message that if we are not actively fighting "racism" we are racist.

Are you racist? 'No' isn't a good enough answer
Are you racist? 'No' isn't a good enough answer. We can pull off being non-racist by being asleep in bed while black men are killed by police. We need to stop being non-racist, and start being anti-racist

As always, the instruction we receive on what little jerks we all are for being white comes from white people.  I wonder if anyone has told these whites that, just by being white, they are more likely to get killed by police than blacks.  Of course, it's anyone's guess at whether that would stop them from making more videos like these.  I'm not holding out hope.

And why don't whites like me worry about getting killed by police if statistically it's more likely to happen?  Because I don't commit crimes.  If stopped by the police, I talk respectfully.  I don't run away.  I don't reach suddenly into my jacket.  And I certainly don't fight them or try to take their gun.  Maybe the statistics can't be compiled, but I am highly certain that taking such action in personal life correlates very highly with never getting killed by police.

"We need to stop being non- and start being anti-"

Huh?  I think being non-racist is a pretty good thing.  In fact, if every person just minded his own business and continued to be non-racist, non-sexist, and non-harmful in general, we'd have a fairly fine world.  Why should I be a bad person because I simply live a life unto myself and do no harm to others, especially on account of their race?

Not to mention there's an inherent problem with being "anti-" something that has an ever-changing definition.  Preferring one's own race to another seems to constitute being racist, but even that preference seems to prevail in nearly every nation and community of the world.  It's how the nations began and, God willing, will endure.  We see it all around us as communities self-segregate in housing choices, friendship circles, and the various gathering places of the locals.

Well, whatever.  Most of these things I simply yawn at and move on.  But, occasionally I feel like making a level-headed response.  That videos like these do not stand up to the smallest of scrutinies and yet are extremely popular -- especially among young people and women -- seems to indicate that either there is not a lot of thinking going on, or the modern narratives (Modern Gods, if you will) have us all pretty duped.

  1. The very premise being faulty, anything that follows is, for all practical considerations, in the realm of the postmodern. Consider: botanist, archaeologist, pacifist (and you could, very literally, continue a like recitation all day long). But, oh, with 'race', and nothing else, we must flip it around. It's newspeak -- the Ministry of Love in action. But it isn't ok. Race is the new sex, as in, the new forbidden topic, lessin' you skirt around the subject in a way that makes it sound as if you are, simultaneously, being meaningful without being offensive...to the tender feminitwits who haven't manned up (I read yer other post, here -- grins) to face the unfaceable, until a new fad comes along in 50 years, over which everyone and their dog, can, again, wax religiose. In the meantime, in the fuzzy feel-good pretense of gathering folks together, it divides them.

As to 'sexist', there's another bs term (with, I hope, no offense to you, being in a 'tweener generation few of whom will probably understand where I'm coming from through sheer volume of 'schooled' repetition, like constant advertising: the inculcatory, incantatory pounding it in, until the indoctrination is successful; and Mesmer takes a bow).
