President Obama gives a perfect defense of "black lives matter" (vs. "all lives matter")

The strategy Obama is using here is being employed rather frequently these days. If I knew more about logic and rhetoric I would determine which fallacy specifically is used but I'm a little pressed for time right now. But the method is this: define a premise that omits certain details you can't argue against. Then, argue the premise you've chosen. In this case, it's rather easy to defend #BlackLivesMatter when your premise omits all the horrible shit they do and focuses on what they pretend to do.
The video above displays a nice little train of thought. So nice, the average listener might confuse it with insightful thought (as a myriad of Facebook comments will attest).
But there's a large elephant in the video. That elephant is that the entire premise of Obama's statement is that #BlackLivesMatter is a peaceful and legal movement. They're not. They're thugs, racists, and terrorists. They advocate for the killing of police officers (especially white police officers) and create an environment that fosters hate-crimes (to use modern society's Orwellian definition of crime) towards people who are not black.
In light of this reality, Obama sitting there and essentially talking about rhetoric and branding is a farce. The reason we tell #BlackLivesMatter people that all lives matter is because they don't believe it. The actions and hate-speech from their movement keeps proving that statement true.
"Hey I bet if I keep re-framing the argument people will think I've won."
Immigration is the other example that immediately comes to mind. In this case, we all casually talk about the merits of individual foreigners who have settled in this country while ignoring the exorbitant drain these people are on the environment, the healthcare sector, social programs, and the Criminal Justice System.
Thank God Ann Coulter finally said something.
The migrant crisis in Europe (and spilling into the States) has the same tone. They keep talking about the economic impact and the humanitarian responsibility while ignoring a few things: too many of the "refugees" are young men without families, the culture of these immigrants is very different than Europeans', they are pushing through the outer countries to get to the places with the most generous social programs, and immigrants in Europe (especially Muslims) commit a disproportionate amount of rape. I could go on but you get the idea.
Gun control. Let's get guns out of the hands of white people in the countryside while we ignore that, when you control gun violence in big cities between minorities, America has a lower gun violence rate than fucking Finland.
However, I think many people are catching on. Just look at the shear volume of counter arguments that have circulated related to all this. It's tough for these morons when the foundation of their argument hits that jackhammer we call reality.
