A Russian talks modern liberalism

"The world today finds itself on the brink of a post-political reality—one in which the values of liberalism are so deeply embedded that the average person is not aware there is an ideology at work around him. As a result, liberalism is threatening to monopolize political discourse and drown the world in a universal sameness, destroying everything that makes the various cultures and peoples unique."

-Aleksandr Dugin, director of the Center for Conservative Studies at Moscow State University

Mr. Dugin isn't exactly a practice-what-he-preaches kind of guy.  At least, not unless defending conservatism means Russian oligarchy (via Steve Sailer).  But I don't think the quote is too far off, if at all.  And while I think Mr. Dugin was referring to modern liberalism, it's a worthy exercise to consider the application of this quote to classic liberalism and whether the world as we see it today is merely the inevitable result of that philosophy.  No doubt I will explore this idea more in the future, probably borrowing liberally from people that have done so before me.
